They didn’t really lose, Charles supposes; not in the traditional sense. There was destruction, but there almost always is. They lost a jaeger, but no pilots. They killed another kaiju. Not a perfect day, perhaps, but a victory in the broader pattern of war.
It doesn’t feel like victory.
(Or; two washed-up rangers walk into a Shatterdome. A jaeger walks back out.)

Summary
There’s someone standing in his kitchen.
He looks young, maybe close to Max’s age, with messy dark brown hair that’s pulled back from his face by a red bandana, and he’s leaning against the kitchen counter like he’s supposed to be here.
Max’s first rather unhelpful thought is; fuck, he’s gorgeous. His second, more reasonable thought is;
“Who the fuck are you?”
“Charles Leclerc,” the man smiles. It's a little bit dazzling and Max is not at all distracted by it. He extends his hand for Max to shake. “I’m your new executive sous chef.”
Or: Max is very happy with his life, thank you very much. He has his restaurant, his team, and two Michelin stars at the age of 24. He definitely does not need some pretentious Monegasque chef coming in and throwing everything into chaos.
Except, maybe he does.

The Batman visibly rolls his eyes (blue, of course, because all men that messed with Charles’ life had that in common apparently) at his reaction, but another look at Charles makes him step closer.
“Yes, always a pleasure. Are you ok?”

5 times both Max and the Batman makes Charles' life a lot more complicated than needed + 1 time he doesn't

Summary
Max Verstappen, the reigning victor of chaos, is one of those majestic, great men whose adventures and exploits are preserved in history. Legends and myths are created for such heroes. For those men's seconds, they must be content with smaller acknowledgment, smaller acts, and smaller sacrifices.
These spotlights rarely shine so dimly on these men, though. Their allegiance is primarily what makes them blind to the displayed love. For Charles Leclerc, it was his pride.
Or, “Five times Charles Leclerc ignored his heats for the sake of everyone else, and one time he let go."
