Summary
Plagued by nightmares and unable to find relief, Eddie stops by a tattoo shop in town in hopes the crash will help him finally get some sleep. He doesn’t immediately realize that he and the tattoo artist have crossed paths before, and were bound to run into each other again.

The best sleeps of Eddie’s life were after getting new ink. He loved the dopamine rush followed by the crash. Afterwards his brain would be too foggy from his immune system kicking into high gear trying to heal the wound. What followed was blissful sleep, completely unplugged for a few hours with no overactive subconscious to torment him. He had a cheap tattoo gun at home that he had practiced on himself with many times, but the coil was getting rusty and his last attempt left him with a nasty infection. He figured he’d rather be safe than sorry and leave it to a professional. This justification could quickly form into a dangerous cycle: need sleep, get a tattoo, rinse and repeat. Eddie knew it wasn’t a healthy habit, but the birthday money alone was a good enough excuse to motivate him to slip his old Reeboks on and walk the two miles to the nearest tattoo shop in town.
