OP is a master of creating this sense of unease, even when there is no overt threat. This fic is 200k words of claustrophobia and impending doom, with people who feel so realistic and yet so damn frustrating I could just scream. While I was reading, there were times when I felt like I was trapped within the skeletons of these characters, so cognisant of the timer over their heads and paralysed to do anything but watch, horrifically captivated every step of the way.

As of my bookmarking this, Of Gods and Men remains a standalone fic. I've found myself periodically checking over the years to see if there's been any updates. On the one hand, I want to know what happens next; on the other, it's almost a relief that a sequel hasn't been made. I love OP's writing, but considering the way this ended, I can't imagine things getting better, and I don't think my heart could take any more tragedy
