She can’t look at him. She can barely stand the pain in his voice. She definitely can’t face it.
“It wasn’t.”
He shakes his head, and turns to her - his eyes swirling in their intensity.
“That’s not what I meant and you know it. Tell me that you were there. We were there together, having the same dream.”
She squeezes her eyes shut. She wants to lie to him. She needs to lie to him. But she can’t.
Lying would be like it never happened. But it did happen. And if it’s all they get to have, she wants him to know it.
“I think we were having the same dream,” she whispers, unable to meet his eyes.

“I-I am not!” Chat stutters. “Really, I mean it, I just—”
“You must be lying,” Emma declares, “because Santa always delivers presents. So if you’re the one who’s delivering presents, that must mean you’re Santa.”
