“What are you here for, Michael?” he asks. His voice is low and mocking, but it doesn’t sound like he’s only mocking Michael. It sounds like he’s mocking himself. Like he’s mocking both of them at the same time.
Michael is silent. He doesn’t know.
He had to.
He had to see David. He got bitten and he had to see David.
When Michael gets bitten and turned by a werewolf, no pack will have him because of his previous association with vampires, so he goes to the only supernatural being he knows—David—even though they hate each other. Don't they? It's kind of hard to tell.

Michael had a lot going on, okay?
He was running from a past that he still wasn’t ready to confront, he’d just been transplanted across states, and he was still overcome with the constant, dreadful feeling that he just had to get out.
He also might be turning into a vampire. That’s probably the big one.
The point being, he didn’t have much time to think about his little brother.

Summary
“It’s just about practice,” David says slowly. “And I can give you that.”
“What do you mean?” Michael asks. He’s turned back to face David. A promising sign.
“I mean, you can practice. On me.” He bares his teeth, bites at the empty air, and turns it into a winning smile. Angles his face to the side and jerks a thumb at his own neck. “Maybe it’ll help, to get a feel for it first. Might make the real thing easier.”
“Yeah, right,” Michael says unsteadily. “It’s your blood that got me into this mess in the first place.”
His eyes are locked on David’s neck, though. David can see his throat working as he swallows hard. There’re the logical objections, and then there’s what even the mention of blood can conjure up for them. Logic doesn’t really stand a chance.
“So what’s the harm in a little more?” David says casually.
