Summary
The streetlamp was doing something unfair and beautiful to Michaela’s face, picking out the slope of her cheek, the deep warm brown of her shoulder. Francesca looked down at her, the height difference indecent in these heels, and felt something settle in her chest.
“I’m not changing my mind.”
“Say it properly.”
“I want to go to your hotel. I want you to take me upstairs. I want—” and here her voice caught, only a little, the ghost of the old Francesca who had blushed across dinner tables, “—I want you to stop being good.”

Summary
“You have my phone number, right?” she asked softly, as if someone might overhear her, even though they were alone.
Michaela’s eyebrows shot up. “Yes,” she drawled, her tone questioning.
“Well,” Francesca started, eyes darting around. “If you wanted to use it for…non-pick-up-related reasons…” she steeled herself and met Michaela’s gaze then. “That would be alright with me.”
Michaela’s lips slowly spread into a teasing grin. “Oh?” she asked airily.
Her reaction soothed Francesca’s anxiety a notch. “Yeah,” she nodded.
“Alright then,” Michaela winked before she turned around and walked to her car.

Summary
“This is Lila,” Michaela introduced her.
“Hm,” Francesca nodded. Francesca had the sudden urge to rip Michaela’s hand from Lila’s hair.
Michaela looked at her curiously. “Do you want to join us?” she offered hesitantly.
Francesca’s mind went blank. Social convention went out the window.
“No,” she said, and went into her room, shut her door, and threw herself on to her bed.

Summary
She was attracted to Michaela. That much was clear. And Michaela was attracted to her too? She had to assume so.
So they could see each other again. It could be light and breezy. Francesca could manage that.
She didn’t want to date Michaela, anyway. Michaela was brash and loud and chaotic. They just weren’t compatible. At least as conversation partners. But in other ways…
Francesca blushed at the memory. Yeah, they were definitely compatible in other ways.
