Summary
After serving his time, Vergil returns home with the intent to pick up his business where he left off. Dante, long out of the game, does not take the news well. Once again, the brothers are at odds—with poor Nero stuck in the middle, torn between loyalty to the man who raised him and an unexpected longing for the father he never got to know.

"Nero, Nero...” The sound of his own name slid down his spine like warm syrup, pooling in his belly and making him squirm. "You wound me."
Dante reverently set the book down between a pair of black candles, then slunk back toward the magic circle with a predatory smile. "I thought we were friends. All those nights snuggling in bed, sharing body heat... How many secrets, how many dreams, have you whispered to me in the dark? I think it's safe to say I know you better than anybody."

Nero gets stuck home alone with candy duty on Halloween. Well, not entirely alone: He’s got the weird stray cat he recently adopted to keep him company.
At least, until the fluffy bastard bolts and leads him on a wild chase that turns his whole world upside down.

Summary
Dante bounded up the stairs two at a time, the familiar creak of the wooden steps echoing in the narrow hallway. Their shared bedroom door was slightly open, soft lamplight spilling out. He pushed it open, expecting the usual sight: Vergil propped against the headboard, nose in a leather-bound volume, blue eyes narrowed in concentration.
And he was half right. But this time, something was different.
Vergil was wearing glasses.
