Summary
Takumi Aldini's cooking has been recognized througout his town and the kingdom. When word reaches the kind, the king sends men bearing all sorts of gifts to woo him to being his personal chef. Takumi turns everything down all for the sake of keeping his family restaurant going. When famine strikes the land, his mind changes. He takes the new king, King Suzuki, up on his offer and enlists as a royal chef in exchange for food and other goods for his family.
When he arrives, however, he realizes it was all a lie and he would be forced into labor with no compensation. Takumi fights back with his cooking, putting his life on the line with one dish to blow the king away and bargain for his release.
Takumi loses and is thrown into the kitchen as a forced laborer. As he believes all is lost however, a familiar face, Soma Yukihira, is there and comforts him, promising him that together they can find a way to escape, somehow. Takumi wants to believe him, he really does, but…
