"I didn't. I just never- I don't understand.. why me? After everything that happened, why would it be me?" Mike felt like he was being wheeled into surgery, laid bare on the table for everyone to see the mess that was his heart.
"What? Mike, how could it not be you?" Will let out a disbelieving laugh. "Mike, it was always you. It had always been you back then."

“You won’t be alone.” Mike's voice was firm, and he pulled Will into a tight hug, leaving no room for him to wiggle away or disagree. “Please don’t say that.”
Now that his face was hidden away, Will continued, verbalizing the scary thoughts that flitted around his head. “Even when I was talking to someone who was like me, I still felt so wrong. Like I always say the wrong things and want what I can’t have.”

"You know, I've been meaning to ask…" Will speaks into the quiet comfort of Mike's basement.
Mike looks up from the table most D&D campaigns are played at, ceasing the tapping of ballpoint pen to paper, and pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Yeah? What's up?"
Will similarly pushes the X-Factor #30 to his side where he's lounging on the floor and reading with Dustin, who greedily grabs the comic for himself. Lucas and Max have co-opted the couch with him entirely draped over her, VCR humming in the background.
"What exactly is a sorcerer?"

Summary
Will Byers had been lonely for a while now, feeling so out of place even when he was surrounded by all his friends - his party. There was a time when being around these people would have felt overwhelming, but in a good way. There was a time when being around Mike Wheeler, just being in the same room as him, would have been utter bliss and comfort.
That felt like a lifetime ago now.

“You can’t have him,” Mike hissed, his nails digging into Will’s skin as he clung even tighter. It was like Mike was trying to absorb him. “I won’t lose him again. Never. Again.”

Mike snarled at Nancy, “Never! I would never!”
