Summary
It is the summer after the 2014 MLH awards and Shane Hollander cannot stop thinking about Ilya Rozanov. He knew he wasn't supposed to care so much, wasn't supposed to feel so hurt - it was just hooking up, whatever. But it was all he could think about.
So Shane did what any practical person would do: he turns to the internet for advice. And everything he read suggested writing it down in a letter, even if it's a letter you never send. So one night Shane drinks enough glasses of wine to do just that.
Unfortunately for him, the letter that he never intended to send somehow ended up in Ilya Rozanov's stack of mail in his Boston apartment when he returned from Moscow at the end of the summer. And Ilya Rozanov wrote him back.

“Hey Siri, call Lily.” After a pause, “Hey Siri, put it on speaker,” was the next slurred command to come from the concussed hockey star.
All Andrea could do was watch in a state of both fascination and horror as the call was picked up after two rings.
“Shane? Are you okay?”
“Ilyyaaa! It’s your voice! How did they do that?” Shane looked at the device in awe.
Ilya’s confusion and genuine concern was audible. “What? Shane, what do you mean?”
“Ah!” Shane exclaimed, giggling into his hands. “Hi!” He looked up, then in a stage whisper, he said, “my nurse is still here. So be quiiiiiiiet.”

Or, Shane gets ahold of his phone and calls Ilya while under the influence of his pain meds. And of course, he calls Ilya.

Summary
Shane and Ilya had mutually agreed to keep their whatever-they’re-doing out of Sochi. It was an easy decision to make: this was bigger than any MLH rivalry and definitely bigger than a few hotel hook-ups. There was no room for distractions, not with Olympic gold on the line.
So it’d be really fucking great if their daemons could get on the same page and stop trying to cause an international fucking incident.

Summary
After Shane's plan to come out to Ilya in Tampa falls through, the pair have a falling out. There is no cottage. Instead, Ilya is forced to wait and see Shane at a charity event being held in New York. Ilya hopes that, after a miserable summer apart, he and Shane can reconcile.
There's just one problem.
Jordan Bragg, a forward for the New York Admirals, has also come out as gay. Stunningly handsome, funny, and just what a heartbroken Hollander needs, Jordan makes it clear that Ilya Rozanov isn't the only one after the Metro's star centre.
