Summary

The veil is still thin a decade after the Breach, and elves the world over flock to northern Thedas. Change is on the horizon. The Dread Wolf, Fen'Harel, Solas, a not-quite-god who moves as a mortal but commands loyalty like a deity, has somber plans that even those who were closest to him can only guess. His army grows by the day for an unknown purpose, and it is quickly apparent that if Solas cannot be reasoned with, he must be stopped. Even if he is not the only one to go down.

"Your Harrowing is tomorrow, isn't it?"
"Hm? Oh, that thing? I suppose it is." She cannot muster the energy to be as concerned about this as everyone wants her to be, even as the chantry maiden's fingertips clench gently around her skin.
"Are you truly so unbothered?" A scoff of indignation. "You could die, you know?"
"Either I fail and I die in the Fade or I succeed and spend the rest of my life locked away in a tower. Somehow both outcomes sound wholly unappealing to me."

"Duncan's gone."
The way his voice trembles around those words makes her heart ache something fierce. She knows. She knows this agony. The agony of losing a loved one. And she knows there's nothing she can do to ease the pain. Nothing she can say that erases the loss. All she can do is stand beside him.
"The king... the Grey Wardens... they're all gone..."
All she can do is stand beside him as the world falls apart and hope the two of them will be enough to put it back together.
"I'm so sorry, Alistair. We'll get through this, somehow. I promise."
