The anxiety had been gnawing at Olruggio since he opened to door to find Qifrey standing there holding a travel pack. It now rests at his friend's feet while Qifrey stands there clutching his own hands. He feels light-headed.
"Yes. I'd like to work as a travelling witch."
OR Qifrey leaves, and Olruggio is totally (not) fine with that.

Summary
Qifrey is free of The Curse™, but it leaves him with low vision. He adapts with a little help and some nifty new contraptions from his smart and awesome apprentices. He also finally gets to have good things, like way too much wine and the best friend he's longed after for ages.
Or: I write out my ideal post-canon for my beloved family. I am un-dooming them from the narrative because I'm too impatient for Shirahama to do so herself in 10 years. Characterization/plot leans sweeter and less tragic. I like my imaginative whimsy and queer joy!

In their atelier, Qifrey and Olruggio have settled into a quiet domesticity. Olruggio dances in this bliss, but Qifrey cannot feel so free.
One night, Agott catches a fever. Qifrey and Olruggio mother-hen over her relentlessly, and as they trip over each other, memories from Qifrey's childhood resurface.
As they do, Qifrey struggles with his identity and his relationship with his childhood friend. All of his feelings come to a head, and he buckles under the weight.
