He supposed he could drop the sass for a second, ‘Listen, if this is how it’s gonna be, you cut connection with my ex wife, don’t speak to her about what we do here. Got it?’
‘Mr Molloy-’
‘I’m paying you. Got it?’
Rashid ran his tongue over his bottom lip. He let a sigh escape his lips and, with it, his shoulders relaxed, all the tension seeped from his frame, ‘If that is what you wish, Mr Molloy. Shall we begin?’

Or, Daniel Molloy tries therapy, at his ex wife's request, to sort through his missing years with the help of a professional. Trouble is, he loathes his therapist. He loathes what he finds. But the line between hatred and love is withering away and Daniel can't make out what remains.

“You must think me an idiot,” Louis said, his voice quiet, almost conversational.
Louis took a step toward him. Then another. Daniel held his ground, his heart hammering, acutely aware in that moment that he was a mortal man standing between two vampires. And one of them was looking at him like he was about to break his diet.
“At the start I thought I must have been imagining it,” Louis continued, his gaze boring into Daniel’s. “The little stolen glances during the interview, the continuous bantering, the way he looked at you,” Louis murmured, almost to himself. “From the very first night. The way he looked at you. I told myself it was nothing. Curiosity. Amusement.” A bitter laugh escaped him.
