Rozanov’s brow furrows. “Why would I be in Boston?”
“You, you’re captain. Raiders. Boston.”
The room is silent except for the beeping of monitors.
In 2023, Shane takes a bad hit on the ice. When he wakes up, the last thing he remembers is a tuna melt.

“I'm sure it was a nice extra benefit,” Ilya said, turning to Shane and moving his body to lay on top of him.
“Didn't cross my mind,” Shane said, settling under him. It had, actually, many times. “I took those photos because they paid me a shit ton of money.”
“Yes, and you needed money to buy a whole building for us to fuck, didn't you?” Ilya spoke with his mouth brushing against Shane's, who laughed.
“That was an investment property,” he said.
“Sure it was,” Ilya said, biting Shane's lower lip lightly. “Look, you can try to keep pretending to the world you are a prude, but I don't think people will buy it anymore.”

“We just ask that you follow the neighborhood’s bylaws about how you display it.”
“Funny,” Ilya said dryly. “Putin told me the same thing.”
OR Shane and Ilya Hollander-Rozanov are a lot of things, including bitchy gays. As they put up with less bullshit in married life, their petty side shows more. Never come between a professional ragebaiter and his bitch wife.

It was odd because for the first time Ilya felt like he was truly moving forward toward something, and not just going through the motions or running away. And yet, it was like the finishing line kept changing, kept growing further apart. He felt selfish asking for more when he wasn't even sure he deserved what he already had.
And yet.
When the game ended, he wanted to go down to the ice with the families and kiss Shane Hollander on the mouth. In 2022, Ilya wakes up in a hospital in Ottawa with no memory of how he got there. He has hazy recollections of 2015, but he can't remember anything about the past seven years. He is shocked to learn he is now married to Shane Hollander, a fact that forces him to reconcile the decisions of his past self with the expectations he inherited from his father.
--“I have this for you.” Hollander reached into his pocket, pulling out something gold, glinting under the cold hospital lighting. Holding his fist out, Hollander unfurled his hand, and the bottom fell out of Ilya’s heart, cratering through his stomach and spilling onto the floor.
Shane Hollander stood before him, palm outstretched, cradling Irina Rozanova’s golden crucifix.
Ilya flinched back, like he had been burned. Hollander’s warmth had moved too close, too fast, morphing into a threat and a violation. Hollander should not have that cross.
