    “Lance,” Keith says quickly, his thoughts moving too fast to focus on one thing, “I never thought that it would come to this.”

    “What the hell are you talking about, man?” Lance asks, his voice high with barely concealed panic. “Did they see us?”

    Keith doesn’t answer him. Instead, he rips his helmet off and drops it to the floor with a clatter. He reaches for Lance’s, ignores the other’s protests as he yanks it off, and tucks it under his arm. He grabs Lance by the front of his armor and hauls him forward, crushing his lips to Lance’s.

    Lance’s world shatters in that moment.
