Summary
Grimmjow grinned in his unsettling way again. "There it is." He let the wrist go, but Ichigo didn't get much opportunity to feel relieved because the same hand reached up to grip his chin instead. The gesture would have been intimate coming from anyone else. Coming from Grimmjow, it made Ichigo feel like a bug caught by a carnivorous plant, immobilized and waiting out the agonizing moments until he was digested. "There's the look I like on you: like you'll get back up and keep on swinging until you're in pieces. You keep looking at me like that, Kurosaki, and we won't have any problems."

Ichigo doesn't know anything about shinigami or hollows or wars between the two. All he knows is that there is one particular ghost with a hungry grin that he can't manage to shake. (Canon divergence where Ichigo does not get pulled into shinigami affairs, but does still get pulled into Grimmjow.)

Summary
Ichigo sleeps, obviously, but—first with the nightmares of his mom dying, and needing to take care of the girls in the middle of the night when they were little, and then Isshin’s increasingly aggressive “training” over the years—he doesn’t sleep deeply. Not in his own house, and certainly not anywhere outside of it either. He’s learned to get shut eye when and where he can, but he’s never so deep under that he can’t snap to awareness in an instant if he needs to.
It often leaves him feeling restless, a little strung out and tense, but it’s fine. He’s gotten used to it. He’s long-since learned how to walk the knife’s edge of exhaustion.
But.
But not at the Urahara Shoten, apparently.
