    Dallas, much to Darry's dismay and Pony's dislike, happens to be with the only Curtis daughter. Junebug, being younger than Darry yet older than Soda, she's the same age as Dally. They've always been close and they're only getting closer. One night, Darry and June get into a fight. Darry hits her. June runs faster than she knew she could to Buck Merrill's place. Exactly where Dally'd be. Poor Dally, it wasn't easy to console her when she could barely say why she was crying. A bit of liquor warmed her up. (Though, June never really drank. Dallas was surprised he managed to get her to drink in the first place.)
