Summary

Summary
Atsu holds her breath each time she walks up the path to her own home, eyes searching for Oyuki out of their own volition, like the sunflowers that always chase the sun. Only exhaling when she catches a glimpse of her songbird sitting under the ginkgo tree, waiting for her.
Atsu longs for the days Oyuki comes to visit them, and gulps back a lump in her throat when she leaves for days again. How could she ever put any of it into words?
Maybe the flowers can help Atsu make sense of the words tangled in her tongue.Series

Summary
Oyuki was smiling at her, though her eyes did not meet hers. Instead, she looked at her face, her forehead, the top of her head. With an airy chuckle, she tugged on Atsu’s arm, forcing her to take a step closer. At the same time, she reached up with her other hand and gently brushed her fingertips against her hair.
Down along Atsu’s face, snowflakes drifted slowly, softly.“You sat there too long, kimi,” Oyuki said, voice gentle. “You will get sick like that.”
Atsu hummed noncommittally in response, too focused on the warmth of Oyuki’s touch, not only atop her head but against her wrist too. She did not have a tight grip on her. If Atsu wanted, she could easily slip out of her hold. But she did not want to and did not move even as Oyuki shifted her grip and ran her fingers down along her opened palm until she could grab a hold of her hand, fingers intertwined like it was the most natural thing to do.
Quietly, Atsu curled her fingers and held on.
— A quiet evening, after everything has settled.

Summary
When Oyuki appears with news of a demon slayer hunting the Onryō from Ezo, Atsu chooses to face the threat head-on rather than wait to be found.
What follows is a journey through rumours, bloodshed, and a prophecy neither of them fully understands—one that draws them south, towards and a man who has been watching from the shadows all along.
But the closer Atsu and Oyuki come to their enemy, the harder it becomes to ignore what lies between them: unfinished truths, fragile trust, and the uneasy question of what remains when the fighting finally stops.
