Richie doesn't have any mention of a boyfriend, past or present, on his Wikipedia article and he’s never talked about it to any of them, probably. Maybe Stan, because he’s the only one who can keep secrets. If he talked to Mike about it, everyone would know, and if he talked about it to Ben he wouldn’t tell anyone except Mike and Mike would tell everyone anyway. Maybe Bev. (Is it homophobic if Eddie thinks Richie might tell Bev about being gay? Eddie googles but the results are inconclusive.)
None of them seem particularly well-versed in the subject, so he probably hasn’t talked to any of them. It occurs to him that maybe, if he was still in New York, he would assume that the people closer to Richie should handle it.
Is this Eddie’s job? As the person living in his backyard, it probably is. Eddie’s heart starts to thump worryingly in his chest. It can’t be his job.
But he’s been staying in Richie’s pool house. He’s been swimming in his pool. The most he contributes to Richie’s life is the occasional 48-pack of Fruit Roll-Ups. He hasn’t even chipped in for utilities.
Oh shit. It’s totally his job.

And after six months, Eddie gets a cabin and invites the Losers for the first reunion since everything went down. And then some.
Or, Richie and Eddie learn to be honest with themselves and each other.

Summary
Eventually the zucchinis are all decimated and the Furbys are lined up how Bev wants them. Richie tucks his legs in and makes room for other people on the couch. When Mike sits next to him instead of Eddie, he tries not to be crestfallen. Being seated next to Mike is a blessing, and Eddie’s only two cushions away. Richie waits for Mike to get comfortable before plopping his legs in his lap so his toes are touching Eddie, anyway.
“Get your foot out of my armpit,” Eddie says, shoving Richie away. “What the hell are we watching?”
“I’m so glad you asked,” Richie says. For a moment, his stomach twists nervously. But the truth is, he knows he has nothing to be worried about, not anymore. “Who here likes to objectify men?”

Summary
Things don't quite go back to normal when Eddie returns home from his week long retreat in Derry. Or had it been longer? Something about being in mortal peril for the majority of his time in town had really made the days fly by. He lasts maybe twenty minutes alone before all the freaky deaky shit he'd thought would be behind him now, a thing of the past, please, pops back up the second he lets his guard down.
Eddie really should’ve seen this coming. Bad things always come in threes— Two showdowns with a maneating alien entity isn't enough paranormal exposure for one lifetime to negate that rule, apparently.
Because now his gay ass is turning into a puddycat.

“What?” Bill twists his whole torso to stare, like an obvious fucking goon. Eddie wants to slap him. “Oh. Her? Richie’s date? Her name’s Sandy.” He shrugs and takes a sip of his beer.
“Maybe you should introduce yourself,” Bev suggests mildly. He hasn’t told her -- or anyone -- about Richie, but maybe that was a mistake. She’s looking at him like she knows something.
“His date? Who the fuck would date Richie?”
“Um,” Bev says. “That’s a question.”

Eddie’s had this alarming habit recently of staring at Richie’s face while Richie is talking and completely tuning out whatever Richie is saying to instead scrutinize each one of his physical characteristics and decide whether or not he finds them attractive. It’s probably flattering because, on the whole, his judgment is: attractive. But the entire exercise has an air of anger and incredulity that makes it difficult for Richie to feel too smug about it. Eddie thinks Richie’s ears are cute and he wants to bite them, but he’s fucking pissed about it, apparently.
Or, Richie has a side-effect from the deadlights: he can read Eddie’s mind.

It was on cable during the 3-5 p.m. block, and back then he wasn’t allowed to bike across town, or go to the park, or really do much of anything. Winning Ticket was a shitty program about a family that struck big and won the lottery; since its release he’d watched it at least 5 times over in its entirety.

He could see her perfectly, leaning back in her chair and chewing on the end of her pen, a nasty habit she’d kept since they’d met. He always knew in school that if he leant Beverly a pencil, it’d come back with gnaw marks down through the paint to the wood.
“Weird.”
Eddie shows up in L.A. in the middle of the night without warning. Things devolve from there.

When Eddie googles the name of the agency, he’s surprised to find a fairly sleek-looking site. In clicking around, he finds more euphemisms that only barely disguise the true intentions of the site. He can filter by categories, some of which are obvious - alternative, Latin, urban - others which are a bit beyond his vanilla experiences - electronica? Sounds painful.
He frowns at one labeled “Comedy”. That can’t mean just funny strippers. He doesn’t think anyone really wants to be laughed at when their pants are around their knees. Could it mean...sex workers who are less conventionally attractive?
Or: Richie books a gig. Eddie books a prostitute. Neither of them ask enough questions.

“I appreciate it, I really do, but seriously, I was even thinking if we’d gone to some noodle place I’d be totally fine with it. Would have made it easier, actually, going back to my place considering I’m much more ‘noodle’ than ‘filet mignon.’ C’mon, dude, look at me.”
Eddie does, and he doesn’t say anything, but he smiles. Richie imagines what he must look like in the streetlight, glasses and messy hair, and is confused, but hey.

Richie licks his dry lips, preparing an explanation that mentions morning wood, no more, no less. Yeah. Okay. He can handle this. It’s fine.
“Rich,” Eddie says, and even in the dim light without his glasses on Richie can see how high up his forehead his eyebrows are, “are you… hard?”
He doesn’t sound outraged; he sounds… interested. But that can’t be right.
