Yuuji listens to the chirpy sound of Gojo-sensei's voicemail. How many times has he heard it? Probably hundreds by now. There's a beep and he hangs up, only to immediately click once again on 'Gojo-sensei' in his contacts. It's been favorited and everything, always at the top of the list. A photo of sensei lights up on his cracked screen and his heart seizes but he ignores that and holds it back up to his ear. He waits impatiently for the connection to click through and immediately start up the voicemail message.
Hi! You’ve reached the one and only Gojo Satoru! If I missed your call, I was probably doing something way more exciting. Leave a message and I’ll think about calling you back!

“We need to talk about Yuuji.”
His heart skips a beat. The fear returns.
“Is he okay?” She'd told him Yuuji had survived, why wouldn’t she have mentioned it sooner if there was something wrong—
“Physically, he’s fine. But you have to remember, he lost everyone that he was close to. You, Fushiguro, Kugisaki, Nanami, and Choso. He hasn’t been handling it well.”
Satoru purses his lips. Emotionally then, that’s what Shoko meant. He’s not great with feelings. “Ah. Okay.”
The silence stretches, and he fights not to fidget. She isn’t bringing this up for no reason, so he just has to wait her out. Shoko doesn't make him wait long, and her eyes sharpen as she says, “You’re going to have to be there for him.”
Post battle, Satoru wakes up to find himself in a strange world where no one is acting the way he expects them to, especially not Yuuji.

Yuuji's heart is pounding in his chest as he shifts onto his side, hyper-aware of the way the mattress dips under his weight. He tries to squash his fidgeting, attempting to breathe slowly. From behind him, there's only silence, and his gaze burns into the opposite wall while he wonders, somewhat hysterically, how he ended up here.
Sharing a bed with the man he’s had a crush on for years.
Yuuji is having a hard time, in more ways than one.
