It's a fragile thing they've built. Tenuous at best. A house of cards stacked so precariously it's in danger of falling at the slightest breeze. Dick thinks they're crazy for even trying sometimes. But the rest of the time he can't be anything except thankful. When it comes right down to it, he feels uncertainty as if it's built into his gut, it's a part of being Nightwing. Being a Bat, by proxy. It's even a part of being an aerialist. Built into his blood: caution, uncertainty, a base acceptance of fear. Still… it's worth it. Worth it in ways he knows he cannot deny.

"Jay" he groans and Dick shakes him harder as he squirms and pushes him off. There's light peeking through the blackout curtains and he doesn't quite feel sick but he does feel achy and kinda sweaty. His stomach is still cramping like he ate something bad, his lower back hurts, and his ribs and head are throbbing. "Little Wing you're bleeding" he blinks, looking at his brother who is already dressed for the day, he must have let Jason sleep in. "Fine, probably just stitches or something" he doesn't actually remember any recent patrol injuries right now and he doesn't care to.
"Okay you still have to treat it Jay" he groans when Dick yanks the covers back "Leave me alone Dickhead, I'm tired" he moans but he hears Dick's sharp intake of breath even as the blankets are pulled back over him. For one blissful second he thinks he's going to be left alone to sleep. But the mattress dips under Dick's weight as a hand settles awkwardly on his shoulder. "Hey sweetheart you- I think you um- I think you got your period."
OR
Dick babysits Jason, Jason gets his first period, and Wally tries to help.

Wally finally felt his heart rate begin to slow, massaging the ice pack deeper into his throbbing shoulder. Robin, no–Dick, was sitting beside him, carefully wrapping his wrist, a popsicle stick serving to help set the sprain.
With one last gentle squeeze, Dick released his hand. “Okay, you should be fine in the morning. Try to stick to kicks on patrol, even with your healing factor you might still feel sore,” he instructed.
Wally felt his mouth quirk up. “Okay, worrywart. What, you not gonna kiss it better?"
Dick’s eyes glinted and before Wally knew it, Dick had grabbed his hand and dramatically popped a smooch on his wrapped wrist, before looking up and sticking his tongue out at him.
Wally stuck his own out in retaliation, blowing a raspberry.
A collection of fics that get progressively longer and more out of my own control where Wally gets a friend, abused, bludgeoned, and killed, and Dick gets a friend, worries, traumas, and grief. Yikes. They end up happy though!

She had to have seen it all, on the news, the entire goddamn parade that he and the rest of the alleged Supermen made. Some reporter once called it a spectacle in his column, but all that it is to Kon nowadays is a muddy memory he doesn't like revisiting.
He supposes he had been some sort of a spectacle back then, though the novelty of it all and the shine have sort of fizzled out somewhere along the way.
