So, when he remembers the time travel cafe he used to visit yearly, he takes the chance to say the words he never got to say, ending his life once the coffee gets cold.
It doesn't go that way.

Oh.
Chuuya’s heart stops.
The room plunged into uncanny silence. Even Dazai’s feet stopped tapping.
“…why?” Chuuya asks, anxiety jarring his bones to the core. If Dazai Osamu says sorry, the world must be coming to its inevitably languid, agonistic end. Chuuya was searching for a reason as to why Dazai could’ve possibly apologized, when he’d never apologized in his life.
Dazai stared into Chuuya’s eyes, unbelieving. The silence between them was rare; the two usually filled it with useless arguments and insults, constantly battering each other's ego. Today was different.

Summary
Going to your sworn enemy's place after being betrayed by the people you once trusted was definitely not what the average person would do.
Though, was Nakahara Chuuya someone who you would really describe as average?
(OR: AU where Chuuya stays with the sheep while keeping in contact with Dazai. Then, he gets betrayed by the sheep and has nowhere to go. At the same time, Dazai's planning on leaving the mafia. Since Chuuya has nowhere else to go, and Dazai and Chuuya work well together, they decide to run away together. Though, their title as enemies goes deeper than it seems.)

Summary
When you truly love someone, you will find your way back to them. Dazai didn't know this when he was at the ripe age of 18, however, and made a rash decision.
He didn't know cutting his soulmate off would come back to haunt him.
So, there he is, standing in the middle of a pumpkin patch while facing almost all of his major life problems.
Or-- Dazai runs away and has to deal with his consequences.
