Sharp cheekbones, straight nose, and a strong jaw gave her an imperious air, and despite the fact that she was shorter than Jade – and tied to a tree – she still somehow gave the impression that she was looking down at her. This was even more impressive given the entire left side of her face was one massive bruise, and her eye was swollen almost completely shut.

(chapter 26 is the cold water you chug after waking up from a 3h nap, the cold side of your pillow, the warmth in your chest after someone tells you they appreciate you, the excitement after finishing an exhausting project, the swell of pride when you see people you love achieve something they have worked for and so much more)

Next thing you know, it's been a couple months, Kit is finally starting to understand her intro to poli-sci course, and she misses her period. Huh. And now she thinks about it, she missed her last period as well.
None of her course, nor her life, makes sense anymore. She excuses herself from the lecture, feeling suddenly very, very unwell, and drives herself to the closest Target, buys herself a test, and takes said test in the said Target's toilets.
