Summary
Mark clears his throat, that strange half-smile wobbling a bit before it goes still again. “I was just wondering if you were free. Now.”
“Uh, yeah?” Donghyuck replies tentatively, fingers tightening around the doorknob. He stands up straighter involuntarily, more than aware of Johnny probably hanging on to every word of their exchange while pretending to be engrossed in something on his phone or something. “Why?”
“Well.” Mark licks his lips, eyes zig-zagging down, unsure, before zipping back up again. “I thought maybe—would you wanna go out tonight?”

Summary
In his brain, it goes like this: everything Mark just said + them holding hands right now + Mark looking like he wants to jump off a plane + the out of place offense at Donghyuck not taking his offer seriously + him sitting here, with Donghyuck, not even watching the movie that was probably very loudly distracting him from completing his time-sensitive essay = the second epiphany.
Donghyuck's eyes widen. “Oh my god. You’re totally in love with me.”

Summary
Sometimes, with a push of a shoulder, a tug of a sleeve, Donghyuck wishes he could go back—go back to the times when the lines of their friendship were defined and well-guarded, when he didn’t have to think about the meaning behind each word, each glance, each touch that they shared. Because back then, all of those meant nothing at all. They’d laugh, cry, hug, and smile the way friends often do, friends and friends only. There was a clear distinction.
All push, no pull.
6 months, 26 weeks, 182 days: all that time spent rubbing the line of their quintessential friendship, coloring an image that passed beyond the edges of the page.

Summary
Donghyuck looks up and immediately feels a hysterical laugh bubble up in his throat. It’s fucking Mark Lee, ex-best friend, ex-love of his life, standing and looking at him with stupidly gentle concern. He looks good. He looks better than he did last summer, somehow. It shouldn’t be possible.
He holds himself with that same easy, athletic grace. His blonde dye job, which Donghyuck had seen on his Instagram a few months ago, is growing out at the roots. He’s wearing a windbreaker and jean shorts, and when Donghyuck looks at the strong, built lines of Mark’s legs, he wishes the meteor would hurry it up.
---
Donghyuck dreams about the end of the world, and also about Mark Lee.
