(”What do you think?” Multiple times, Rover has asked him that same question. As if looking for steady footing on sinking sands or deepening waters, he turns to Luuk with naked uncertainty.

Rover has always known what he should do. It isn’t the question of 'what' that plagues him, but the 'why' and 'what-ifs'.

He needed the courage to make the decision and brave through the possibility of catastrophic failure. There is only so much resolve a man who remembers and knows nothing of himself can have, and Rover needs someone to believe in him so he can trust himself to make that leap.

And in his eyes, that someone is Luuk.)

To save his life, Qifrey the Witch had to do two things: lose his eyesight, and make everyone forget all about—well, Qifrey the Witch.

Twenty years later, he has settled into a half-life at the margins of the world; mending pots, listening to rain, troubling no one and troubled by no one in return. When he goes to a spring festival, three not-quite-strangers happen upon his bench.

☆ Or: decades after he made the world forget him, Qifrey meets Coco, Agott, and Olruggio for the second first time.

    Summary

Sunday's eyes are fixed on the piano. He can't explain why, but something about it is captivating.

It's been a very long time since Sunday's played piano.

"Uh, Passenger Sunday?" the Conductor repeats, and Sunday blinks, stiffening as he glances down to meet their eyes, widened slightly in expectation.

"I - sorry," he stammers, clasping his hands together before him in an effort to keep him from tugging his feathers. "I was just - I didn't know there was a piano aboard the Express."

Pom-Pom glances back at it, a small sigh leaving their lips. "Ah, yes," they say, shaking their head. "That old thing... it belonged to Akivili, many years ago."

They say this in the same tone one might say we found it on the side of the road amongst the trash and not this instrument belonged to the long-dead Aeon of the Trailblaze.

The crew of the Astral Express, as Sunday quickly learns, love music.

Or: five times Sunday played piano for a Nameless, and once he played for someone else.

User 003: Yeah, 3 weeks ago, nearly exploded over being a silverwood host AGAIN, and having to go at everything AGAIN, why

    User 002: A silverwood host??

User 002: Ok so hold on

User 002: Custas wouldn't be a silverwood host this soon right

    User 002: …

    User 002: MASTER QIFREY???????

    User 003: Hold on

    User 003: 'Master' Qifrey?

    User 003: COCO?????????

User 001: Just my fucking luck.

Olruggio rubbed his eyes, just to make sure that he still wasn't hallucinating. And then pinched himself to make sure that he wasn't dreaming. Hurt like hell, so not a chance he was.

Nope. The strange paper-thin slate thing was still there.

Aka, someone behind the System wants to help, and chooses to do so via shoving specific people's future selves back into their own old bodies in the past, and selectively allowing some other people to see them interact in the System's chat room. Naturally, some major derailing, a lot of heart attacks for some, and overall just a lot in general, occurs.

The rest of the world, not privy in the chat, watches on with mostly pure confusion.
