She rummages through her bag for food. Finds a single can of cram. It’s not her favourite, but it’s better than nothing. She cracks it open and takes a few bites before offering the can to Cooper. He glances at the food, and then at her before letting out a grunt and rolling his shoulders.
“That must be ghoul for no, thank you.” she mutters under her breath.
At least she’s trying. Even if he doesn’t make it easy.

Cooper takes up the armchair in the small room while Lucy climbs into the bed after her so-called meal. Dogmeat curls up on the bed with her. He watches them both fall asleep before getting up to check that the door to the room is locked. And the window, for that matter. He also draws the torn curtains closed, just to be extra safe.
Tch. He never used to be so cautious. Never cared about security, but now—

Lucy coughs, waving her hand in front of her face to disperse the thick, stale aroma. “Well, I am.”

“Sweetheart, ain’t nobody capturin’ me. They ain’t got the balls or the bullets.”
“Can’t you take this seriously? They won’t stop watching you.” Her eyes widen. “What if they come after me to get to you?”
“I’m touched that ya think I give a shit what happens to ya.”

Summary
That being said, they decide to pack up their belongings and keep moving. By daylight, they reach a settlement with clean water. It’s not the coincidence Lucy believes it is; Cooper knew full well where they were heading. He figures she’s earned this. She deserves it.
She gets water to soak her suit in while Cooper fills the tub for her. It’s lukewarm. Better than nothing. Lucy doesn’t complain. She strips out of her suit without a care in the world that he’s standing right there. He tries not to watch. Tells himself he’s not interested in her like that. She’s got his attention, sure, but he’d never act beyond a few impure thoughts.
Once her suit is hanging to dry, the tub has been filled. He turns away completely as he realises that she’s slipping her underwear off. It’s another few long seconds before he hears her sinking into the tub. The sound she lets out is fucking torturous.

AKA, cooper and lucy find their annoyance and irritation with each other growing into desire and, eventually, lucy decides to shoot her shot because cooper hasn't tried killing her yet so what could possibly go wrong?

But bit by bit, those layers start to peel away and Lucy questions who she really is.
During a radstorm, they find shelter in a church and Lucy sees just how beautiful her companion is when she catches him showering under a rainy waterfall. He's annoyed when he realises she's watching him, so....she strips down to be as bare as he is; after all, he is fond of honest exchanges.
