He’s going to die.
Geralt had snarled the second the thought occurred and set to work, packing the wounds as best he could. There was no time to worry about cleansing them properly. Too much damage had been done to linger for the time it would take to disinfect and close them, and Geralt didn’t have the sort of medicines that would fix this sort of damage on a human.
Jaskier’s heartbeat was already uneven, pumping sluggishly, horrible palpitations disrupting its rhythm. His breath had been ragged, drawn in low, broken gasps. Geralt knew those noises. He knew how close to the end someone was when they sounded that way.
(After an attack, Jaskier is left on the edge of death, and Geralt is left to desperately seek help in a village with something deeply wrong at its heart).
