Dabi throws back his head and laughs, a mean cackle that echoes throughout the apartment, sending shivers down the group’s spine, unease washing over them.
“A girlfriend, huh? I can assure you there’s no one here but me.”
“No, no, she was supposed to be here. Don’t even try to lie.” The brave one grits his teeth, scowling, while his teammates take a step back.
“Do you see anyone else here?” Dabi’s amusement returns, a twinkle in his eye and an expression promising mischief.
“Well, that doesn’t mean-“ The man frowns, eye darting around as if the girlfriend would appear out of thin air. “Unless…”

POV: you’re the poor minimum wage cashier just trying to make ends meet around your university degree, but by an outrageous stroke of bad luck, you’ve picked the shop next to the League of Villains’ hideout.
Not that you know that, though. You’re just really, really fed up with all these strange people constantly frequenting the store during your night shift. You’re not paid enough to deal with all these supervillains and policemen- and is that Hawks? Where have all the normal customers gone? Surely this is infringing on your worker health and safety rights.
The solution to surviving to the next morning, you find, is either praying for a midnight miracle or ignoring reality to live in increasingly concerning levels of denial. Maybe a bit of both. You haven’t quite figured it out. However, a job is a job, and, somehow, you make it work.
