Before he could stop himself, his hand reached out once again, hesitantly falling to Thorin’s chest. Unlike before, his hand rested over Thorin’s heart instead of his bandages, feeling the gentle and steady thump underneath his palm.
He watched his own hand, staying silent long enough until he knew he could trust his own voice.
“I’m just not used to it yet.” he whispered, eyes not meeting Thorin’s.
Thorin didn’t question him, instead he hummed. “I know.”
Bilbo and Thorin take comfort in each other in the middle of the night.

Fleur didn’t wait a moment to wrap her arms around Tonk’s shoulders, one hand coming up to hold her head and stroke her hair. Tonks breathed Fleur in—she smelled like french cigarettes and expensive perfume that hadn’t faded from the previous day. She smelled like home.
Tonks comes home injured and Fleur fixes her up.
