For a horrifying second, Ed’s stomach plummets into his boots. Adrenaline surging, panic taking over, and then his brain catches up. “Our anniversary is definitely next week, mate. Jesus, properly scared the fuck out of me for a second there.” And then the rest of what Stede said lands with a crunching thump. “Wait, what do you mean, you’re getting me a tattoo?”

The project has changed since then, and, frankly, so has he.
