And while Ilya knows he’d fall in love with every single version, he’s happy he gets this one. Happy he gets the Shane who lets himself be trusting, and vulnerable, and honest.
It makes Ilya wish he could have loved Shane earlier - makes him wish he could have known him longer. But he’s just glad he gets to do it now, here, like this.

Billie was happy for Samir. It'd been a while since he had an official girlfriend, and as far as she knew, he had never taken a trip with a girl before. This weekend upstate with Carly was big for Samir, and Billie was glad. Really, she was.
As she got ready for Issa’s Bring-Your-Billie-to-Work day that morning, she noticed him checking his suitcase a few times, crossed paths with him while he fussed with his hair in the bathroom mirror. Then, he finally emerged from his room in that white cable knit sweater that, for some reason, Billie could not stop staring at.
On the walk to the dance school, Billie couldn’t stop herself from bringing it up to Issa.
“It was a sweater, Billie,” Issa shrugged. “He looked like that guy in When Harry Met Sally.”
“You mean Harry?”
“Right, whatever.” Issa pulled open the glass door for Billie.
It was, in fact, just a sweater. And Billie put it out of her head for the day. And for a while after that. Until one morning, a week or two later, when he rushed out of the house past her and left her in a cloud of his new cologne. She stood at the bottom of the staircase, a little dumbfounded. “An electrician…” What the fuck kind of real person is an electrician?
Buck drums his fingers on the table and stares at his empty glass and wonders what possible conversation led to Eddie revealing this guy’s profession to Harry. It’s not like it’s interesting.
Buck tries to picture what Eddie could’ve possibly said: I was out for the twelfth time this week and some random guy came up to me and said hey, I’m an electrician, can I put my stupid sweaty hand on your bicep and then crash your work function? And I said yes because I’m gay now and that means I have to go on a date with every fucking man in Los Angeles apparently.

Eddie gets a boyfriend, and Buck has some feelings about him.

Shane asks Ilya to fuck him gently during one of their regular hookups, badly bruised from their game. Ilya runs him a bath afterwards, and they fall secretly and desperately in love that way, through whispered confessions and late night conversations while Shane soaks, and Ilya quietly observes him.

It’s big, how badly Ilya wants to sink his teeth into his boyfriend, shake. He wants to be tucked in Shane’s chest, all the way under his ribs, like somehow by devouring him Ilya is the one who will get to crawl inside him and live there.
Most of the time Ilya can divert this urge of his. He’ll suck marks down Shane’s neck and that will be enough, or he’ll bring Shane a snack and watch him eat it, the way his throat bobs as he swallows. But there’s something about today that makes it so when Ilya walks by Shane on the couch, he just knows none of that will work this time.
