Summary
He wasn’t ever possessive, that felt unbecoming. Unholy, according to the Bible. But he was human. He got jealous when people encroached on what was his, envious when others had what he didn’t. But he did what he always did. He acknowledged it, repented, got over it, and moved on. At least, that was how it had always worked for Dennis. Until Robby. Because whatever fiery, irrational thing that took hold of him whenever someone flirted with Robby was unlike anything he'd experienced before.
Or, a familiar face of the past visits PTMC, and Dennis finds himself utterly possessive and jealous for the first time in his life.

Summary
Dennis takes a deep breath in to calm himself, but as he breathes out, he confesses, “Trinity made a bet with Samira that I could get anyone in the bar to buy me a drink because I kind of have a knack for it, but Samira chose you, and now they’re watching us, and I’m so sorry.”
His boss blinks at him a couple of times, probably figuring out the least problematic way to fire him or berate him for being so damn unprofessional. He should’ve just said no to Trinity and Samira and killed the vibes for the night; he’d prefer that to whatever Robby is about to say. He can already see the anger bubbling up inside him that’s going to—
“I’ll buy you a drink.”
Dennis stares at him, unblinking. After a few seconds, he manages to ask, “What?”
“I’ll buy you a drink,” Robby repeats, then leans over to pat the bar stool next to him. “But you’re going to have to earn it.”

Or, Dennis tries every trick in the book to get Dr. Robby to buy him a drink and to stay.

Summary
The plan was laundry. Meal prep. Maybe the documentary Trinity had been passive-aggressively telling him about for three weeks.
The plan did not account for Michael Robinavitch coming through a bar door laughing, Jack Abbott two steps behind him, and the particular quality of the look that passed between all three of them in the moment after.
Dennis has gotten better, this year, at letting himself want thingsBookmarked by tdbks (ljps)

Summary
Dennis Whitaker was right where he wanted to be.
Well, maybe not with who he wanted to be. He couldn’t help but try to imagine that the hands that were currently gripping at his waist were those big and calloused hands that were squeezing his shoulders a few hours before.
He couldn’t help but imagine that the smooth cheek rubbing against his neck was instead thick with beard, giving just that right itchy feeling that directed his blood right to his—
Not drunk enough then. He needed more.
Or
Dennis just wanted a night out and he never thought he would en up at the ER he worked at with a head laceration, drunk and stuck under the constant checking of his Attending.

Summary
"There has to be something you want to come back for. Something you can’t die without doing.”
Robby’s gaze roamed across Dennis's face, tracing the planes and sharp angles of his features like he was trying to commit them to memory. He already had a long time ago. The horrible, aching knot in his chest dedicated to Dennis was a piece of Robby that he tried, time and time again, to rip out. Always to no avail.
If he had anything to come back for, it’d be this one thing.
"Marry me," Robby said.
Robby, about to head out for his sabbatical and never return, thinks to hell with it—nothing matters except for the very real, very inappropriate feelings he's been harboring for his first-year resident. So he proposes. And before he can take it back, Whitaker says yes.
