Chan chokes on his beer. “That’s . . . that’s nice.” He looks around at the party. “Was it okay?”
“It was fine.” Felix feigns nonchalance. “He knew what he was doing. Made it good for me.” And it was good, but it wasn’t perfect. Not like it should have been.
“It should have been you. But I got tired of waiting.” He stands up without looking for Chan’s reaction, but Felix can hear him choking on his beer once again.
