Captain Marvel's life is weird so it's not unusual for some obscure god to come crawling out of the woodwork to ask him for favors.
he does not expect to end up 'adopting' a ghost child that's older than him though, that's a first.

or, clockwork asks Billy/Captain Marvel to befriend a banished ghost king, the justice league thinks that Marvel is in the process of adopting him and insists that he join the team, despite Danny's best efforts to remain alone in an abandoned amity park.
