Dark quills styled to perfection, just like they were every morning, good enough to hide the sleepy haze that shrouded the hybrid.
The tousled white fur on Shadow’s chest, still askew from where Sonic had been gripping on to it for dear life just a few hours earlier, said otherwise.
Sonic noted the book in Shadow’s hand as he slowly settled himself into the spot beside him, fingers already flicking through the pages with practiced ease. Shadow drummed a quiet tune onto his own legs, hands always needing to be busy even at the quietest of times.

“You smell good.” Shadow’s body informed Sonic, easily telling things that Shadow did not even want to admit to himself. His nose kept twitching like it was trying to capture Sonic’s smell and bottle it up, keeping it inside him forever.
Sonic froze. His hand completely stopped moving before he slowly raised his head, making direct eye contact with the still partially trapped hedgehog. “Uh- …what?”
Or: Shadow is under the effects of a truth serum and Sonic is there to rescue him. What could go wrong?
