Daniel nodded slowly. A thousand lifetimes, a million, perhaps more – he had the suspicion he would always want to come back to Armand in the end, but he didn’t want to cause problems here either. They were happy. They deserved to be fucking happy.
“And perhaps, when it comes to the one who makes us, it’s a love we will never move past,” Louis admitted. “No matter how much time has passed, nor how truly infuriating they are.”
“Tell me about it,” Daniel agreed quietly.
“I did tell you about it, Daniel.” Louis said. “You wrote a book about it. They made a movie about it, and this is why Lestat likes to sing Sympathy for the Devil on the karaoke.”
A reunion in (hopefully) six parts: Armand and Daniel finding their way back together during and after Prince Lestat.

It was chilly and damp and Daniel still had about ten pounds to put on before he was back to his pre-skag weight. He put his back to the slight breeze the convection of the underpass was creating and dropped his cigarette butt into the oily black puddle next to his feet. A whoosh of air behind him startled him, sending him spinning around and nearly losing him his footing. His arms were still turning circles in the air to keep him upright when he saw the glowing orange eyes of Armand staring at him from the shadows. They grew closer and closer until Armand was just barely illuminated by the silver light of the half moon.
"Son of a bitch, you scared the shit out of me!"
"You should be more careful about the puddles you drop your cigarettes into," Armand chastised. "You are incredibly lucky that was not gasoline."

“Petra tou Romiou, huh? Didn’t figure you one for tourist traps,” Daniel offers into the night air.
"They say that Venus, Aphrodite, whichever name you know her by, emerged from the sea foam here. She was never a baby, or a child, she emerged beautiful, with love and lust and desire following behind her,” Armand recounts.
“Yeah, this is her rock we’re sitting on, apparently," Daniel agrees non-committedly. "Cut the bullshit, we need to talk.”
Armand says nothing. Continues staring out at the ocean.
“Look at me,” Daniel hisses.
Armand turns to face him, and the breath is punched out of his chest.
Seeing him again, in the flesh, beautiful and inhuman, Daniel is forced to remember that this is not just another story he has been chasing. There is no book at the end of this year's long line of inquiry, no documentary or Pulitzer-winning article. No professional detachment. There is just this—two monsters on a beach and a horrible amalgamation of emotions that fill Daniel’s rotted heart and scarred throat.
