Summary
Cas looks even more tired than Dean feels. His eyes are red and the bags under them are more prominent than ever. His hair is a hot mess, reminding Dean of the time when Cas was still able to take off any second with just a flick of his wings. The cut on his neck is covered with a white bandage now and he wears different clothes, a gray sweatpants and a black shirt with a hole on the collar, that Dean recognizes as one of his. It makes him look different. It makes him look soft.
Dean likes it a lot.

Cas is back and that is great. Except that it worries Dean how much Cas struggles to adjust to humanity, haunted by nightmares and memories every night. So it's just a gesture of their friendship, despite Castiel's feelings for him, when Dean offers Cas to stay with him at night.

Coming back sometimes means coming undone. Cas has a body now, just the one, for the rest of his life. He must learn to live in it, to heal. Jack deserves that. Dean needs that. If the words must go unsaid, he’ll paint them into his skin.

Summary
“I mean, just imagine, the two of us and Cas and Eileen, a nice wide beach and breakfast at the pool, sleeping in...you could learn how to surf and me and Cas could do some yoga…”, Sam babbles some more and Dean snorts at that image, but turns serious again real quick.
Because seriously.
Why the fuck not?
“Okay”, he finally interrupts Sam’s speech about trying new food and how they never swam in the ocean and do you think Cas knows how to swim? and Sam falls silent.
“Okay?”, he echoes and Dean shrugs.
“Yeah, okay. You’re right, we really deserve this. So let’s do it.”

There was no one left to pray to. No angels he cared about since Cas had been taken by the Empty. No God. There was Jack, whatever kind of God he was, but Dean didn’t pray to him either. He prayed to a thing inside himself. A creature who cowered and whined and hid its face under the blanket of a Hunter’s disguise, telling itself over and over that it was good. It was good and righteous and it had saved more than it had killed.
