Robert comes into the Coffee Spoon almost every morning. He's been coming in for as long as he's lived in Maple Bay. So it's no surprise Mat has gotten used to Robert's presence to the point he can tell how Robert is feeling just by which coffee drink he orders. Any good shopkeeper makes it a point to get to know their regulars, and any good neighbor would lend a hand wherever possible, but their more personal history probably gives Mat an edge in that case too. He often catches himself reminiscing about yesteryear, and Robert has caught him staring once or twice. Mat knows all too well what it's like to miss someone who's not there. But is it really possible to miss someone you see everyday?

Once again ignoring the little voice in her head that is telling her maybe it isn’t super moral to seek Shino’s friendship out of desire to make stupid Sasuke jealous (it wasn’t the best choice, sure, but he was one of the only single men around her anymore, so she has to make due), Sakura proceeds in her food preparation, determined to make the night memorable.

In which friendships are formed for slightly-less-than-entirely moral reasons, Kiba realizes he might be gay, Hinata finds her two best friends to be morons, Sasuke still can't believe that Sakura broke it off with him, and Shino is definitely caught in the middle.(Cross posted on Fanfiction.net. M rating begins in Chapter 8, and the scene is not graphic whatsoever, but I have upped the rating to be safe.)

Summary
Kakashi and Iruka are clearly in love, but refuse to confess to each other and Shikamaru is absolutely tired of it. With how much time he has to spend with Kakashi as his advisor, Shikamaru has to deal with the hokage's pining and bickering with his old teacher far too much for his liking. When he makes a spur of the moment choice to put their feelings out in the open, he realizes that he may have to do the same with someone who's been on his mind for the past few years. Thankfully, Shino makes the whole situation less troublesome than Shikamaru expects.

Robert likes living in Maple Bay. He likes, in no particular order: the view, the cemeteries, the endless horizon. He likes Mary, who is a companionable drunk, and he likes Damien well enough (since Mary does). The one thing he doesn't like is that there are hardly any late-night shops that cater to his sweet tooth on his nightly walk back home from Jim and Kim's. A man needs whiskey, and then preferably some good chocolate cake after that.
Mat catches him loitering outside Coffee Spoon, staring hungrily at the pastries behind the window.
