Sometimes when Sibling Rane looks at him, they can’t even see the face of their Prophet anymore. Sometimes they think that he is dead, drowned at the bottom of that cursed water butt, and whoever they brought to the surface is nothing more than his empty decaying shell.

Didn't even ask for gas money. I am letting her link our elbows, as I have let her touch me all day today. I am pretending not to notice when she makes us stray off the path only to return to it moments later. I am not asking her what it is that she doesn't want me to see.
And still in the back of my mind I am wondering if there really is a sick old woman at the end of this road. It's the only reason I am still humoring this person, the off-chance that she is telling the truth, even when all signs point otherwise."

It occurred to me that the end of episode 8 is probably the first time Faulkner has actually been picked up and held in a long, long time. (Even if it was just Carpenter grabbing him to save his life.) Hence, I had to write a character study about my poor touch-starved son.
