Summary
The ginger tears his gaze away from the laptop screen at the sound of his name, and turns around to find Touya standing at the door. The boy is staring back at him as he leans on one leg, his eyes half-lidded in sleep. The hoodie on him (Akito’s hoodie, he must’ve stolen another one from his closet, Akito thinks) is ever so slightly dishevelled, and his blue hair is all tousled, sticking up on one side.
The sight tugs at his heart softly, and he can’t stop himself from smiling. “Hey, partner. Did something happen?”
“...the bed was empty. I was wondering where you went,” he says, a small pout on his face as he steps towards Akito, peering curiously into the screen.

Chuuya scoffs, and there’s something else to his tone that Dazai can’t make out, something other than Annoyed At Dazai. “Did you get hit in the fight, idiot?”
“No?” Dazai guesses.
But really, he doesn’t know. What fight? Dazai doesn’t remember a fight, and the last time they had a mission, Dazai wasn’t hurt. Chuuya’s making a mistake.
Dazai can maybe hear soft murmurs that sound a little like what the fuck, but he can’t be bothered with whatever Chuuya’s problem is right now. He’s tired, and his head hurts bad enough that he might actually consider taking painkillers if he were allowed to have them.

What the hell? Is this some kind of prank?
Chuuya was ready to snap back with a harmless “Shut the hell up, you bastard,” but he hesitated.
Dazai’s voice sounded different—hoarse, unsteady. Alarm bells rang in Chuuya’s head. It almost sounded like Dazai had been… crying.
Something’s wrong.
Dazai never cries.
