"Col, could you give me a hand?" Penelope looked up from her place in the sand, handing the tube of sunscreen toward him.
"Sure, baby," Colin said reflexively, initially confused by the alarmed eye-widening of his already freckling girlfriend. His cheeks burned, whispering a soft sorry as he looked around them to see if anyone was paying the pair any mind. Though it would come as a relief to Penelope, Colin was somewhat disappointed no one heard. She was his baby. It would do others good to know.
But alas, patience.

Summary
In hindsight, watching old reruns of 'Didn't Even Know I was Pregnant' was probably not her best move. Watching eight episodes in a row was probably her next bad move, but she was invested in the stories of these women; she just kept pressing play even after 2 a.m. passed.
She becomes convinced, when the cramping goes lower in her belly, that she is having a surprise baby.

Colin was startled away from his spiralling thoughts when she finally spoke up.
“Colin,” her whispered voice sliced through his confusion, face still downturned. “Listen to me.”
He could see her right foot was twitching and her fists were tightening into her bright daydress - as if her body was struggling to contain the entirety of herself. He stepped closer, craning down his neck to try and get a glimpse of her face.
She looked up then, incensed determination radiating off her.
“Either you distance yourself completely from Marina,” she pronounced, her eyes hard and her face coloured with a pale red, “or else I will sever all ties with you.”
OR
Colin would do just about anything Penelope asked of him.
