Summary
Nom was just not good. It was purely a selfish desire, something in only Nom's interest, to ask people to stay, at that point, and Nom couldn't remember a time where he'd done anything for himself.
Graecie couldn't say that she was surprised, but God, it hurt to know Nom thought of himself that way.

Summary
Katie had been feeling angry lately, which she thought was totally understandable. As stated before, being taken from your home and forced to watch your brother be experimented on might traumatize someone a little bit.

Summary
Graecie was absolutely terrified, to put it bluntly.
She'd known coming into this that the mission was dangerous, but it was her job. Her crew was wonderful and would have no issues handling such a threat, perhaps except for some injuries.
She'd thought Nom and Katie would be just fine fending for themselves, highly capable and well-exercised apex predators they were, and she was right.
That was what scared her. They were too fine.

Summary
In general, Nom was aware of one of the many facts of the universe: he was fundamentally, irreversibly, damningly, and most of all deservingly the worst person on the planet.
Of course he didn't like it, but that didn't mean it wasn't true.
He'd betrayed Katie, failed to protect her, failed to ever listen to her. He'd actually killed 4C, forced him away from his home in a futile attempt to keep him away from the war. He'd somehow fooled Scott into believing that he was in any way good. He'd robbed Mae of her best friend and not considered her feelings at all.
And yet, all of them, because they must have been saints to ever forgive or want to be near a sinner like him, hadn't declined the offer to go sailing. Blessedly, Nom got to keep this one good thing, at least until they all realized that he was better left alone for their sake.

Summary
It was hard to watch his friends break down, particularly when they couldn't hear, see, or even feel his comforts, but somehow, all of them would stop crying a few minutes after Nom arrived and made futile attempts at soothing them. He didn't let himself hope.
The next few months fell into something that mimicked normal closely enough that he almost wouldn't have noticed, if not for his own ghostly form and the way he intimately learned all the distinctly 'not-normal' things.

Summary
It was probably not a smart thing to backtalk a faerie king– one who could very well be one of the Archfey, especially powerful overlords of the Feywild. But Martyn wasn’t thinking correctly. For one, he was exhausted after getting shoved through a gate to the Feywild, chased through the woods, and arrested by faeries for no good reason, so his judgment wasn’t quite in check.
Mercifully, the king—Ren, wasn’t that his name?—didn’t look angry. He raised a brow and his lips twitched into a smile. He just looked curious.
“What can I call you?” he asked.
