“I could kill you like this, sweet thing,” he murmurs with poisoned affection against the shell of an ear but acts contrary, fingers squeezing lightly on the downward stroke.
A soft gasp, then an elongated moan. “You could,” utters Tobirama, voice quiet but unyielding, a shiver to his spine. “It wouldn’t fix you.”
Yet I still dream of killing you, Madara doesn’t say, and they both hear it all the same between their uneven breaths and the lapsed silence.
A relationship such as theirs cannot be defined by convention, but they make it work.

Obito offers her a sheepish smile; judging by her state, she’s been training with Minato while waiting for them to arrive.

Kakashi nods, readjusting his mask. His face is covered in scratches.
“And then we had to help a feral cat.”
“The cat wasn’t feral, you barked at it.”
“Maybe it deserved to be barked at, have you considered that?”
Obito looks at him, and considers his options.
Maybe he made a mistake by being nice to him and calling his dad a hero. The bratty jerk was easier to deal with than a clingy six-year-old.
This is the same person who will one day become one of the most feared shinobi.
The knowledge of the future feels like a curse once more.
Or, after dying in the Fourth War, Obito wakes up in the past. Problems transpire.

Obito thought quickly. "They're part of a... club... for babysitters."
"A club," said Kakashi, flat.
"Yep. A... babysitter's club."
"I see," said Kakashi, who clearly didn't see at all.
"Yeah, the clouds on the coats are supposed to be a soothing visual for kids?" Obito said, as he decided to dig himself deeper.
"In red and black."
"Okay, the color scheme could maybe stand to be changed," Obito conceded. He heard Konan snort from underneath the table.
He glanced briefly at Hidan, who was now shaking his shoulders, and the entire curtain, laughing at Obito.

"I think it's a great idea!" Hashirama says, which doesn't do anything to assuage Tobirama's concerns or annoyance. "Interclan cooperation is very important, Tobirama, especially if we want other clans to join us, and what would show it off better than a mission like this?"
"Not killing each other over paperwork and sewage treatment plans for several more years," Tobirama suggests.
Madara and Tobirama go on a mission together.

It's what Tobirama's been taught from a very young age. Views that should never, ever stray, and yet... things aren't always what they seem.
Perhaps, the Uchiha aren't as cursed as he was told. Just maybe, they aren't as bad as his father had him believe. He means, his Anija fell for one. Chased after one. For years, Hashirama was consumed by it and all it did was add fuel to Tobirama's loathing fire until that one Uchiha.
He changed everything.
