Yusuke was realizing- all too quickly, and in the middle of a palace- that maybe, he’s had these feelings towards physical contact completely wrong. That it hadn’t been the touch itself Yusuke had resented, but the immediate loss of it that always followed. The deep, gnawing pain, the feeling of emptiness, all those horrible things he felt afterward…it was entirely possible that it had all been a result of Yusuke’s own aversion.
He was an idiot for not realizing it sooner.

It was terrible. The heat was blistering, and it wasn’t just Yusuke who was miserable- the drive to the palace itself was dead silent, all of them deciding that speaking would take too much of their precious energy that the beating sun sapped more of by the second, even from within the Mona car.
At least the pyramid was a nice sight, but in the grand scheme of things, it was little consolation.
