Summary
That Monkey D. Luffy is apparently his soulmate is the biggest cosmic joke Law has ever experienced, but it doesn't matter, it can't. His mark is burned to faded scar tissue and for thirteen years, Law has been little more than a blood-drenched ghost, carrying out Donquixote Doflamingo's orders from the shadows. He will never be Straw Hat's; Straw Hat will never be his.
Yet their paths keep colliding, and when Law decides to make a bid for freedom that he knows will cost him his life, here is Straw Hat, determined to help. Here is Straw Hat, looking past the blood, the scars, the howling phantoms, and seeing someone good, someone human, someone worth the tentative bond between them. Someone with a future.

It can be incredibly difficult to anticipate a disaster.
Luffy didn’t even look him in the face before kick-starting this one, just smiled to himself, lost in an unknown world, and Law was already preparing to jump overboard and join him.
Or
Luffy and Law swap hearts before leaving Wano because that is a perfectly reasonable way to handle your crush sailing into the opposite horizon in the morning. And because their entire relationship is based off of one of them going 'get in loser, we're going to upend the natural order', and the other sliding into the passenger seat with takeaway coffees already in hand.
