    He was supposed to get an offer to box at RCU. Instead - he became the school joke. The guy who always came up short. The guy that made both of their exes like each other. The guy that had his reputation damaged because of that.

    Mako was done. He was done with her. Done with his problems. Done with high school and certainly not going to college after not getting an offer. A opportunity to escape from it all presented itself and he took it -

    The United Republic Marine Corps.

    A opportunity that had its upsides. Iroh was one of those, a former competitor that turned into one of his closets brother-in-arms. Feeling achieved and having purpose was also big one... but most of all, being able to see anybody he so pleases to forget the sleeping pressure back home was a second.

    But, again, there was sure to have downsides... downsides that would eventually land him back to the start of one of his main problems he so dearly ran away from.
