Summary
She glanced down, behind the ledge. Is that what Icarus felt in his last moments? Was that what Abbot, and sometimes even Robby, felt when he would come to the rooftop after a rough shift? The rush of blood in her veins, the fast thumping of her heart in her chest? Feeling lighter than she had in so much time?
or, Samira wanders up to the rooftop and Jack knows where to find her.

Summary
"I think there's something wrong with me." It's a whisper dragged from Samira's lips, from the very depth of her.
"I think I might be a bad person." Chokes on it, on the pain, on the terrible truth, the indictment of her soul, of her morality, of her humanity. The evidence - plain and simple - that Samira Mohan was rotten to the core.

Summary
Samira exhales through her nose. It might have been a laugh, but he doesn’t allow himself to hope. “Missed me that bad?”
Despite himself, he laughs. It breaks through the lump in his throat, coming out gruff and shaking. “That bad,” he confirms, without a hint of embarrassment.
God, he’s going to fall off this roof. And it wouldn’t even be on purpose.

Summary
He closes the office door with a sharp exhale, clicks the lock, likes the way Samira stutters over her words as the sound echoes. Thinks he could listen to her talk every day. When he turns, Samira is watching him even as she continues speaking.
She's memorized her writing.
“Get on the desk, Samira.” Jack stands at the door, unbuttoning and beginning to roll up his sleeves.
“No.” Samira stares back, fire in her eyes.

Summary
"Everyone goes into the pot, you know that."
Jack did know that, in theory. "I thought you were keeping me out of it. As a kindness."
Robby snorted. "A kindness."
"Because I'm such a," he took a second to think of the word, "contributor. Annually."
Robby stopped writing — mid-name, it seemed, Cassie barely legible on the scrap in front of him — and cocked his head. "Is that what you're calling it?"
(5 times Jack bid on his coworkers at the charity gala, and 1 time the tables were turned.)
