She sits on a stool at the Grand, hair tied back tight and glasses slipping down her nose as she leans over a book.
“Jesus.” She hears one of the regular patrons say, “I’m surprised Donna can even look at her, she looks so much like him.”
The hair-tie snaps painfully against her wrist as Felicity lets her hair down. She won’t let them see her cry.

“No vodka?” Rozanov asks, tsking in disapproval but looking amused. “What then? What does the great Shane Hollander want when he does a good job? What is your vice, Hollander?”
“Hmmmm, mangoes,” Shane sighs out wistfully. It’s not a dangerous allergy for him, but it does mean being itchy and sometimes a little queasy for a couple of days after. Really he knows that he should probably avoid them altogether, but with every other restriction he has and with how controlled he is with his life even outside of that, it’s his one little indulgence, a pressure-relief valve of one bad choice to let some steam off at the end of a season, when he carves out time in his cottage when he can make his annual bad choice and enjoy a few days of wild mango madness before he makes himself buckle back into the restraints he usually keeps his life in.
He looks up when he hears Rozanov snort.
“Mangoes?” Rozanov repeats, tugging his shirt over his head. “Really?”
“They’re good,” Shane defends. “Better than vodka,” he adds, pointedly.
(shane has food allergies but makes an exception for mangoes) (5 times ilya didn't find out about this allergy and 1 time he did)

Once the familiar soundtrack began spilling through the speakers, Ilya tugged Shane a bit closer. His hand began creeping up from where it was resting on Shane’s stomach. It snaked up his chest, ghosted over his throat, until it reached its destination at Shane’s mouth.
“Open,” Ilya murmured.
And Shane did. Ilya felt those two heavenly, pink plush lips part, and Ilya pushed his index and middle fingers into Shane’s awaiting mouth.

“Shane.” Ilya takes Shane’s head in his hands, squeezes his cheeks so that Shane looks puffy, absurd. Beloved. “I am saying that to me, even though you are retired, you will always be No. 1 hockey player. Fuck Wayne Gretzky.”
That’s what does it, as Ilya knew it would. Shane rears back, spluttering, outraged, trying not to laugh.
“Oh, I have committed blasphemy now. They will take back my citizenship, big crime, very sad.”
Shane smoothes his hands along Ilya’s calves, rests his fingertips on Ilya’s ankles. “Fuck Wayne Gretzky,” he says. He looks like he can’t believe what he’s saying. Ilya wonders, distantly, if he can get it on tape to play back to himself when things feel particularly bleak. “We can live in exile together. I don’t care. You’re my, my best, my second best hockey player forever too.”

Shane decides he has to retire. Ilya, of course, will go with him.
