Please read this wow there’s mystery, political intrigue, monster biology and symbolism, and incredible Laios and Kabru characterization and backstory stuff! Very thorough food descriptions and speculative magic lore which expand the world in fun ways. Everything I want from post-canon stories!
It starts with platonic intimacy and is very slow with anything explicitly romantic because they are both in denial. Their weird dreams get a little freaky but nothing too graphic.

Summary
The day is saved. The demon is defeated, the kingdom is returned, and a new king is crowned. It’s the perfect ending to a tale of heroes and adventure… But Laios and his friends have never fit particularly well into storybook molds.
Left with a hundred questions still to answer about the future, and amidst growing concerns about forces that would be all too happy to take that future away, they make their way as they always have: by holding fast to each other and figuring the rest out as they go.

Clearly this is a completely normal monsterfucking dream, and Laios just has to look down to find that Kabru has tentacles again, or double scorpion stingers for legs. Or perhaps he’s a faun, or a satyr - or a centaur, or an ichthyocentaur, or maybe even a beastkin who’ll transform any minute now…
Laios looks down.
No, he thinks, in dawning horror. No, no, that can’t be.
Because all he sees is regular tallman Kabru. All he's dreaming of is regular tallman Kabru, tender and unguarded, curled up in his bed.
Inveterate monsterfucker Laios Touden discovers, to his immense surprise, that he’s fallen in love with a human.

Freaky monsterfucker Laios is hilarious and seeing Laios’s perspective of Kabru would make me fall in love with him too.
The writing style describes the wildest monster sex things so nonchalantly it’s hilarious. The more casual intimacy of sharing a meal? Working together?? I’m fanning myself. Laios dreaming of Kabru shaving his face or cuddling with him is more vulnerable than any of the monsterfucking.
