Summary
Trinity reached her hand out and Myah took it.
She opened her mouth.
Closed it again.
She hadn’t had to speak about gymnastics in years.
Then she began to speak.
“You know, I was a gymnast. A good one, too. And it was a coach like yours that ruined it for me and my best friend.”
Myah made eye contact with Trinity and looked shocked that someone knew her pain as well as she did.

Trinity Santos has felt a strange presence of someone beside her since she was 13 years old, they grew up together, through every heartache, every trauma, every first kiss, her first day at PTMC, this presence had lingered, she never could explain what it was exactly, she just knew it was there, you know that feeling like someone is watching you? Yeah Trinity gets that literally all the time, it's weird, but she's never really questioned it, it's not a malevolent presence, in fact she always feels safest when it's around, one day the presence disappears and Trinity is left alone, until one fateful day changes everything for her, when she quite literally runs into a woman, one who feels awfully familiar to her, unfortunately for Trinity the woman has no idea who she is, so now Trinity has to do whatever she possibly can to get her to remember everything they went through together, and let her know exactly what she means to Trinity, which is harder than it sounds.

She dry heaved, just twice. The bathroom smelled like sweat and wet wipes, just like it did in the Minneapolis Gymnastic Academy’s Girls Locker Room. Breathe. Trinity focused on the sink. She touched the porcelain. She was in the bathroom at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. She was nowhere else, she was no longer a gymnast, and her best friend was no longer alive.
Her breathing steadied. Trinity was acutely aware of the sweat running down the nape of her neck. Her breath tasted hot and acidic, and she felt as if a layer of grime covered her entire body. She stood up and grasped the sink. She remembered, briefly, a grounding exercise her victim advocate taught her when she was 18. To name everything about herself, a way to detangle her thoughts.

After Dennis is kicked out of his parents' house for being gay, he has to figure out how to live in foster care. Luckily for him, he quickly makes the acquaintance of Trinity.
Or the one where Dennis and Trinity are basically a bonded feral cat pair at the shelter with a yellow sticker on their cage that says : Will only be adopted out together.
